Assembly of workers expressing their "support" for forced unification of the Polish Socialist Party (PPS) and the Polish Workers' Party (PPR) in front of the Warsaw Politechnics, December 1948. Both parties formed the Polish United Workers' Party, the main political party of Poland between 1948 and 1989. Bolesław Bierut became Prime Minister and Józef Cyrankiewicz, President.
