Ground personnel watch as Supermarine Spitfire Mark IX ('UF-?') of No. 601 Squadron RAF, comes in to land land on the newly-completed airfield at Lentini West, Sicily. Four Spitfire squadrons of No. 244 Wing RAF were operating from the airfield by the following day.
