Object description

Short S.30 'C' Class Empire Flying Boat, G-AFCZ "Clare" of BOAC, moored at Gibraltar after flying King George of Greece and Sir Stafford Cripps to the colony for a visit. On 12 October 1941, "Clare" made BOAC's first flight to Cairo, routed through Lisbon, Gibraltar and Malta. She was destroyed by fire off Bathurst, West Africa, on 14 September 1942.
