Sister Mary Williams places a young baby into the new cot she has designed at Middlesex Hospital, London. The cot is a 'box' on a stand and is leaning at a 45 degree angle: it can be laid flat. An oxygen cannister can be seen on the lower part of the frame. The ends of the cot are removable so that the baby can be treated without being lifted out.
