Object description
A general scene of men at work on their sunny allotments on the outskirts of Reading. According to the original caption "some are on land owned by the Town Council, some are privately owned. You can have a piece of ground, usually rented out by the rod, for a few shillings a quarter, and erect on it your own little tool shed". Behind them can be seen the fields and trees of the surrounding countryside.
