Amateur photographer Miss Eveline Goist (from Birkenhead) helps Mrs Hickman adjust her veil before taking a portrait of Mr and Mrs Hickman for Gunner A Duncan, serving in India. Gunner Duncan (Mr Hickman's step-brother) was to have been the Hickmans' best man, but was drafted to India before the wedding took place. Through the YMCA 'Snapshots from Home' scheme, he has requested a portrait of the Hickmans in their wedding outfits.
