Leading Aircraftwoman Esther Bashford, from Kennington, London, dances to the tune of "When the Blue of the Night meets the Gold of the Day" as part of the midnight cabaret put on by members of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force catering section at the Royal Air Force depot, Uxbridge. According to the original caption "her gown was the only feminine dress in the room. There were sighs of envy from the WAAFs and of appreciation from the airmen".
