A road in the village of Strete, Devon, showing the damage caused during training exercises in preparation for the D-Day Landings. The windows of the house on the left have no glass, and the buildings on the right, including the old Women's Institute, were almost completely destroyed. The original caption states that the WI building was burned down. The road runs along the cliff top and was in the firing line of naval shelling.
