Object description

An elderly man inspects the front paw of his dog, injured following a devastating V1 attack in the Highland Road and Lunham Road area of Upper Norwood. According to the original caption, the dog would always run into the Morrison shelter when the siren sounded and so was safe when his owner's house was destroyed. This man had been for a walk as his wife prepared the Sunday lunch, and returned to find that his house was now a pile of rubble and that his wife had been killed. Behind him, Civil Defence workers continue in their search for survivors amongst the ruins of several homes.
