Object description

As part of a training exercise on HMS WESTERN ISLES at Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, sailors 'rescue survivors' from a dinghy alongside. One 'survivor', played by a local cadet, is carried aboard. The ship's doctor (wearing a steel helmet with the word 'doctor' on it) is just visible on the left of the photograph. The original caption states that he "is on duty, as he would be in 'the real thing'".
