As part of their training on board HMS WESTERN ISLES at Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, naval ratings prepare to launch the improvised raft they have built in seven minutes from rubber cylinders, old spars and other materials. In order to make this training as realistic as possible, rum and water jars and provisions are also attached to the raft, and the sailors must jump onto the raft in the same way as they would in an emergency situation.
