Object description
Whenever he is in Manchester, lorry driver Fred Horrod stays with 62 year old Mrs Louie Quaile. Here Fred reads the newspaper whilst Mrs Quaile cooks breakfast. According to the original caption, Mrs Quaile is "known to hundreds of lorry drivers all over England. In peacetime Mrs Quaile cooked 50 meals a day. She remembers wistfully that she used from 25 to 30 dozen eggs a week and 40lbs of bacon".
