Object description

A 21" torpedo is lowered onto the deck of Motor Torpedo Boat 232 in Felixstowe Harbour. Amongst the crew on board are Leading Seaman John Valentine, Lieutenant N S 'Norrie' Gardner (Commanding Officer, MTB 32), Sub-Lieutenant Douglas 'Gertie' Gill (Commanding Officer MTB 232) and Lieutenant Bob Morgan (Commanding Officer, MTB 69). The sterns of three other MTBs can be seen to the right of the photograph. Left to right, they are: MTB 69, MTB 70 and MTB 72. MTB 232 was part of 21st MTB Flotilla, commanded by Lieutenant Peter Dickens.
