Object description

Mrs Lushby (left) and colleagues at work in a small 'factory' producing breech blocks from steel bars. This 'factory', previously used as a hen house, was owned by Mr C W (Charles) Packard, an engineer and former haulage contractor, and was probably in Welwyn Garden City. In the foreground, rows of finished 'block pieces' can be seen, ready for the next stage of production.
