The Churchill Coalition Government 11 May 1940 - 23 May 1945: Ernest Bevin MP, the Minister of Labour and National Service from May 1940, taking his place in the queue for lunch with women war production workers at a Government factory. Bevin had been General Secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union before the war.
