Object description
First Phase: 17 January -13 February 1944: Men of the King's Royal Rifles man an observation post in the Garigliano area. Rifleman L H Ockleston on guard, Corporal K Fossey, wireless operator, in the background, and Rifleman T Tanner on the right. Strong German resistance had prevented the British assault from breaking into the Liri Valley from the south west and achieving the collapse of the Cassino Front.
