Object description
Picture taken at the Salvation Army training centre for blind Africans, Nairobi. Trainees are mostly young, and rehabilitation includes classes of educational value - for example, geography, which is taught by means of raised maps. Pupils learn typing, earn pocket money by making camouflage nets, during their training period. Braille books are made by the pupils themselves on a special braille typewriter. Picture shows:- A game of catch played by means of an audible ball.
