BOMBARDMENT OF ST JEAN DE LUZ. 4 AND 5 APRIL 1942, ON BOARD HMS CALPE, OFF ST JEAN DE LUZ. PREVIOUS TO THE ATTACK HMS CALPE FLEW THE SPANISH ENSIGN AND WHILE THIS WAS BEING FLOWN NO UNIFORMS WERE WORN BY ANY MEN APPEARING ON DECK. BEFORE THE BOMBARDMENT TOOK PLACE THE SPANISH ENSIGN WAS REPLACED BY THE WHITE ENSIGN.
