Object description

Picture taken in March 1945, when Queen Salote of Tonga paid a ceremonial visit to Fiji. Tonga ("Friendly Island") lies to the south east of Fiji. Picture shows:- The Queen follows the Governor of Fiji, Mr A W G H Grantham, down the gangway. Behind her are Adi Maraia, wife of the Secretary for Fijian Affairs, Ratu J L V Sukuna, Mr H Vaskess, Secretary to the Western Pacific High Commission, and Captain Kerr, Governor's ADC.
