Object description

Stretcher bearers of the 3rd Battalion, King's African Rifles, Longido, September 1915. At this time, the KAR was still a relatively small force. The British were yet to follow the German example in appreciating that locally recruited Africans would prove to be the most reliable soldiers in this theatre of battle.
