Japanese officers, including General Itagaki and Admiral Fukudome, come aboard the Royal Navy heavy cruiser HMS Sussex to sign the surrender of Singapore.

Looking aft on the quarterdeck of the heavy cruiser HMS Sussex assembled ship's officers; a body of officers march towards and past camera. Looking across the quarterdeck, a Royal Marine band plays as sailors march past. Closer shot shows the Royal Marine bandmaster and the band playing. Looking down as naval officer (the Captain?) inspects a group of twelve officers on deck. Various shots as the Captain (?) inspects the ship's company. A body of sailors marching towards and halting in front of camera. A guard of six sailors fix bayonets. Sailors at the 'slope arms'; they present arms. They unfix their bayonets. Looking directly at a young naval officer with sword; he is seen to say 'present arms', and salutes with his sword. He repeats the salute for the camera. Two shots showing a sailor hauling on a line. Close shot as a White Ensign is hoisted. Series of shots of the ship's band slow marching; Sussex's badge can be seen behind. A guard of sailors with fixed bayonets on deck beneath the guns of one of Sussex's turret. The commander of the guard repositions himself, with the band behind. Looking aft as a White Ensign is hoisted; moored very close by and directly astern is a King George V Class battleship. A British (Dido Class?) cruiser moored a short distance away with a launch approaching Sussex. Admiral Cedric Holland comes aboard and is saluted. On deck Holland speaks with Lieutenant-General Christison (commander XV Indian Corps) and Major-General Mansergh, commander 5th Indian Division. Looking toward the cruiser with an armed local coaster passing between. Two naval officers talking on deck. Group of sailors and a marine on deck. An out of focus shot of a distant warship. A launch comes alongside Sussex carrying the surrender delegates. General Itagaki comes aboard, followed by Admiral Fukudome; they salute as they step aboard. They go below decks. In Admiral Holland's cabin the Japanese delegation are shown in; they sit down. The Allied delegation talking amongst themselves; they suddenly look up as if someone has entered the room. Close-up Admiral Holland. Pan along the Allied delegation; Christison, Holland, a Captain (possibly Captain Lloyd Davies), and another Allied officer (not British Army or Navy). Itagaki signs the surrender. Japanese officers signing.
