Disjointed film of Austro-Hungarian forces in the Tyrol and Russian Poland, autumn and winter 1915.
Austrian horsed transport on the Italian Front below the snow-line. A hut, probably a customs post, on the road guarded by Austrian troops. A Red Cross orderly corporal in the Kaiserschützen, 68 years old. Austrian troops making their way up the mountains. Gunners fire a 77mm field gun fitted with an obsolete semi-solid trail. Ski troops on patrol over the snow. Polish civilians work repairing a road; people of the local town are given bread by the occupying "benevolent Huns" (Germans and Austro-Hungarians). Archduke (later Emperor) Karl and his wife Zita in Innsbruck talk with ladies in local costume, then leave by car. Karl with his staff inspects troops and the ground in the Tyrol, close to the Italian Front, including a hussar regiment and local volunteer foot soldiers, and a Tyrolean Jäger battalion outside a hunting lodge. More Austrian troops on the march; part of a bombardment by 77mm guns. Discarded equipment and wrecked buildings near Przemysl (?) following the Russian retreat of August. Karl and his staff continue their tour of the Tyrolean mountains. Austrian officers relax outside a dugout. Soldiers clear dirt with spades.
