Full description

Unrelated scenes with no continuity or storyline, mainly taken from the GERMAN OFFENSIVE series of Spring 1918, showing the British sector of the Western Front between March and April 1918. An additional attack sequence comes from IWM 116 BATTLE OF THE ANCRE and IWM 466 CANADIAN VICTORY AT COURCELETTE. In so far as the film has a message, it is expressed at the end in a scene of a shell-damaged village. "This is what the German would like to do to us. He cannot, while we stand firm !" the last two words being underlined three times.
