Short documentary showing research into super- and hypersonic flight.
Military jets have left the sound barrier behind; the next leap forward will be the Anglo-French Concorde (models shown). Using laboratory scenes (wind tunnel tests) and shots of Handley Page 115 and BAC 221, a trio of scientists explain the aerodynamics of the delta wing and proposed "wave rider" air shapes and demonstrate an experimental silicon nitrite metal strengthener. Concluding speculations on the future development of hypersonic airframes.
