Object description

Designed to "let the public into the mind" of a fighter pilot, the film (mainly stock shot compilation) purports to show the story of a typical Spitfire action.

Full description

Introductory sequences show pilots waiting for a scramble, and a central control room - also the discomfort of a pilot's kit (life-jacket, parachute, face-mask), the smallness and complexity of his cockpit, the problem of cold, altitude etc. The squadron scrambles and climbs (close-ups of instruments) and a somewhat fanciful "action" sequence follows - on landing the pilot of one Spitfire is teased for allowing his plane to be damaged. The closing commentary asks the public to remember this film when reading of fighter actions.
