I. 'THE OLDEST REGIMENT: The Buffs (East Kents) stationed at Winchester is the oldest Regiment in the British Army'. Posed MS of a group of officers. Men fix bayonets and march off past camera. Rifle inspection - sergeant checks the open bolts and rifling.
II. 'INDIANS AT ARRAS: Indian troops return to Arras for a rest after weeks of hard fighting'. Indian troops - apparently perfectly fit - board an ambulance. British, French and Indian troops stand about chatting.
III. 'THE PEN AND THE RIFLE. The Lord Mayor Sir Charles Johnstone inspects the Chartered Secretaries' Corps at the Mansion House'. March past of men in bowler hats and overcoats. The Mayor inspects "the ranks".
IV. 'MILITARY ATHLETES: The Southend Harriers organise a military cross country run between the troops stationed in the vicinity'. Pan across a group of men in varied styles of running gear - they wave. The men run down street past camera. CU of the winner of the five miles race - No 139, Rifleman Jarvis of the 14th Rifle Brigade.
V. 'ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. Members of the Royal Field Artillery (Territorial) making trenches and 'dug-outs' on Hampstead Heath'. Men work with picks and shovels to dig a trench and construct a neat dug-out roofed with timber and turves. The men pose by a donkey.
