[In the absence of the commentary, the following synopsis is of necessity purely visual.] Points are illustrated impressionistically, rather than in detail: Britain after Dunkirk, surrounded and outnumbered; defensive preparations, and mobilisation of man- and woman-power into the services and war industries; growing output, new techniques (sub-contracting); import problems (replacement of shipping losses, saving of cargo space by intensification and redirection of agriculture); domestic life (food rationing, Blitz victims, queues and storages); preparations for the resumption of the offensive, the massing of men and matériel; Germany defeated.
