A steamer moves left to right across anchorage. Medium shot of 150mm gun of the Gneisenau battery in front of the Royal Palace Hotel, Ostend in October, 1918, after the German withdrawal. Medium shot men at work stoking ship's coal-fired boilers. HM King George V and Beatty inspect the hospital ship Plassy. Medium long shot of submarine hull down at sea. Medium shot onboard a United States ship - crew are crowded onto quarterdeck around jackstaff flying Stars and Stripes. Groundcrew straighten folding wings of a Short Bomber and the engine is run up for take off. A flight of BE2cs start up. Medium shot of BE2c No 1738. Medium shot as a Felixstowe flying boat is brought up slip to join two others. Close-up of Admiral Sims, USN, who salutes for the camera. Long shot as Short seaplane goes over.
