A collection of papers relating to his service with 5th Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment, in the Gallipoli and Mesopotamia Campaigns, including: a ms notebook (94pp) covering the period July 1915 - February 1916, containing a detailed account of his travels from England to the Dardenelles via Lemnos, and time spent at Cape Helles (July 1915), Lemnos, Anzac (August 1915), and Suvla Bay (October 1915) until his evacuation by Hospital Ship following exposure and strain in the cold (January - February 1916), with descriptions of his journeys, the trenches, his duties, casualties, and a list of all the officers of the 5th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment who had left England in FRANCONIA and what happened to them subsequently, and poems; a ms Letts Diary for 1916, with some entries for 1917, giving details of his movements, including to Mesopotamia (July 1916); two telegraphs informing his family of his detah in action (22 February 1917); ts copies of two letters written by Lt R I Scorer and Lt Col R H Haseldine of 5th Wiltshire Regiment expressing their sorrow at his death by a Turkish sniper near Kut, Mesopotamia; a copy of a eulogy from the 'Shirburnian' with memories of his cricketing days; a portrait photograph of him as a 2nd Lieutenant; a cap badge from the Wiltshire Regiment; a copy of a book entitled 'Poems of the Great War' published for the National Relief Fund by Chatto and Windus; and a large number of newspaper cuttings and articles about the Mesopotamia Campaign.
