Transcription (24pp ts) of his Second World War recollections, written at various times after the war, of personal experiences during his service as a senior Royal Navy officer (King's Harbourmaster) in Hong Kong at the time of the Japanese invasion in December 1941, his responsibility for the defence of the dockyard area, the general surrender and passing into captivity, initially at Shamshuipo and then in Argyle Street camp where he was involved with escape plans and the operation of a concealed radio set, his arrest and interrogation by the Kempeitai along with fellow 'conspirators' in September 1943, incarceration in Stanley prison in the expectation of being executed (but receiving a 5 year prison sentence), solitary confinement and his observations of Japanese prison life [Note: see also the memoirs of Commander R S Young RN in the Documents archive, and, inter alia, Oliver Lindsay's 'At the Going Down of the Sun' (London 1981) for the historical context and references to Craven's actions at this period].
