2 bound volumes (cyclostyled ts, approx 160pp total) containing: 1) a `War Diary' of 2 Company, 31 Machine Gun Battalion of the German Army during the campaign in Poland, 1 - 19 September 1939, and 2) a similar `War Diary' of the same unit redesignated as an Anti-Aircraft Company (2./Fla 31) during the `phoney war' and the campaigns in Belgium and France, 19 September 1939 - 20 June 1940: the two volumes were written up after the campaigns as unofficial records of the unit's activities and distributed as `mementos', they include propagandistic references to wider wartime events and the feats of German arms, the volume covering the Polish campaign also includes a nominal roll of the Company; also 2 albums containing snapshots, official photographs and a few newspaper cuttings concerning the unit's part in the campaigns; and a commercial map of `The German East and Poland', on which the unit's locations and progress have been marked by hand.
