Photocopies of papers relating to his service in the Royal Navy at Gallipoli including a transcription of a letter (10pp) from him to Admiral Wemyss in which he gives an evocative description of the role played by HMS RIVER CLYDE which he commanded during the British landings on 25 April 1915, a ts account (10pp) in which he gives an excellent account of every stage of the operation and also refers to the landings at Suvla Bay in August 1915, a letter to his wife dated 18 August 1915 in which he mentions being awarded the Victoria Cross and interesting letters concerning Gallipoli from Admiral Wemyss and Colonel J C Wedgwood, both dated April 1915, together with correspondence from old comrades who had served at Gallipoli, papers relating to the RIVER CLYDE during and after her war service, letters from film director Anthony Asquith and others concerning the making of the 1931 film about Gallipoli, 'Tell England', and papers relating to the 1938 diorama of the Gallipoli landings displayed at the Imperial War Museum.
