Photocopied ms illustrated article (50pp), describing the role played during the First World War by Captain H Newton, 5th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) (139th Brigade, 46th Division), in establishing the Second Army workshops in northern France and Belgium, improving various existing weaponry with his own designs such as the 'Newton Pippin rifle grenade', the 'Newton Pippin hand grenade' and the 'Newton 6" trench mortar', and in 1918 designing an amphibious caterpillar track vehicle; written by Captain Nelson's nephew, the article includes photographs, scale drawings and plans, and other photocopied original documents.
