Content description

Postcards and letters (circa 90pp ms/ts), mostly in German, written to her between 1939 and 1946 after she had left Germany for England in December 1938 on the 'Kindertransport' scheme, mainly from her parents who remained in Hamburg, her brother Max, and various acquaintances, including a letter dated January 1939 from the daughter of her future 'foster parents' in London and two letters from the Refugee Children's Movement and the B'nai B'rith Committee for Refugee Children; 1940 Pocket Diary and two school exercise books kept whilst an evacuee at Cockley Cley in Norfolk; two exercise books kept by fellow refugee Margarete Heller at Cockley Cley; circa 40 family and other photographs, mostly taken during the 1930s and 1940s; book of her poems (140pp ts) published in 1999; and a small number of miscellaneous papers.
