Ts account (16pp) written in November 1994 by Flight Lieutenant C A Mitchell, regarding his service immediately after the Second World War as an RAF Investigation Officer with 22 Section, No 4 Missing Research and Enquiry Service based in Germany, where he was involved in identifying RAF graves and tracing missing airmen; the account includes descriptions of the methods of investigation used and the problems faced in post-liberation Germany. Also held with the collection are photocopies (12pp) of Missing Research and Enquiry Unit (MREU) Investigation Reports describing the result of investigations, May - June 1946; memoranda concerning reports from search officials, November 1945; statements from witnesses, February 1946; and an official letter of identification, May 1946.
