Photocopy and ts transcription (25pp) of his ms diary (56pp) recording his service as a CPO/A or GPO/A with the 90th Battery, 13th Medium Regiment RA in North West Europe, June 1944 - May 1945, including: embarkation overseas, June 1944; active service in Normandy, June 1944 - August 1944; the breakout and pursuit through France, Belgium, and Holland, August 1944 - December 1944; resting in Belgium, December 1944; the advance into Germany, January - May 1945, notably the crossing of the Rhine, March 1945; and mentioning his off-duty entertainment; his duties; the conditions; the food; army life; casualties; relations with the local civilians; and celebrating VE Day. Also included are photocopies of 24 ms amusing sketches (12pp) drawn by a comrade, Signaller Ivor G. Smith.
