Ts transcription in English (32pp) of an account (written in 1924) covering his service with the 143rd and 99th Infantry Reserve Regiment of the German Army, 1914 - 1916, his life as a civilian in Germany, 1916 - 1917, and his imprisonment in Dachau concentration camp in 1938, providing useful descriptions of life as a German soldier, life in the trenches and the German treatment of wounded, together with details of the fighting around Wervicq, east of Armentieres, in 1914, Arras in 1915, Mametz in 1916 and the first day of the Battle of the Somme. Also included is a short account of his life in an internment camp on the Isle of Man in 1940.
