Photocopied ts account (194pp) of the history of the Lushai Hills District of Assam, 1931 - 1947, relating to his time in the Indian Civil Service as Assistant to Major Anthony McCall, Superintendent of the district, providing a history of the district under McCall's administration, 1931 - 1942, and describing the organisation and operation of the Lushai Hills Total Defence Scheme set up by McCall in 1942 to act as an intelligence/supply support system, based on local village networks, to combat Japanese infiltration and invasion, with a summary of postwar events in the district leading up to its incorporation into India and Burma in 1947. Together with a series of Assam Government reports (15pp), 4 - 25 April 1944, a propaganda leaflet (2pp) issued by the Japanese Army to win over Indian troops, and a blood chit (1p) issued to Allied airmen flying over the Chin Hills and Burma.
