3 ms diaries recording her service as a VAD at a civilian hospital in Suffolk, January - May 1915; at the 1st Eastern General Hospital, Cambridge, with descriptions of nursing gas bacillus cases and references to friction between the qualified nursing staff and the VADs, May - September 1915; and in France at 55th General Hospital, Wimereux, from September 1915. The final diary contains a brief summary of the rest of her service at 55th General Hospital until 1918 when she was transferred to the office of Dame Maud McCarthy, the Matron-in-Chief, at Abbeville and then Boulogne up to her demobilisation in 1919. The collection includes her appointments as a VAD in military hospitals, and relating to the VAD Scholarship Scheme which she took part in after her demobilisation; her certificate of Mention in Despatches and Red Cross certificate in recognition of her service; 'Regulations for VADs' and an assortment of blank forms concerning VAD service and pay; reports on various convalescent and holiday homes for nurses in France during and just after the War; several copies of the 'First Eastern General Hospital Gazette' for 1915 - 1916; newspaper cuttings, photographs and Second World War ration books.
