Substantial collection of material concerning his career during and after the Second World War, comprising: False/forged identity documents and other papers associated with his escape from Stalag Luft III (Sagan) in October 1943; telegrams and letters from Williams to his mother following the successful escape; official reports written by Williams on the circumstances of his capture and escape, and by co-escaper Oliver Philpot concerning the various prisoner of war camps in which he was held; papers concerning Williams' work as RAF Welfare Officer in a POW Reception Centre in the Philippines in 1945; correspondence and related papers regarding his books 'Goon in the Block', 'The Wooden Horse' and 'The Tunnel', and the film of 'The Wooden Horse'; and other miscellaneous papers.
