Photostat copies of 130 ms and ts letters written to her parents in Buckinghamshire while serving as a VAD in France, giving good descriptions of her work at Boulogne (October 1914 - February 1915) providing medical aid and refreshments for the wounded in ambulance trains which passed through the Red Cross Rest Station, at Gournay near Rouen (February - April 1915) helping to set up a small hospital, at Abbeville (May 1915 - February 1916) setting up and then running a Rest Station similar to the one at Boulogne, at Gournay again (February - November 1916) this time as head of the Unit, at Etretat (December 1916 - March 1917) running a convalescent home for nurses, and at Etaples (March - July 1917) as Quartermaster of the Red Cross Motor Ambulance Convoy; and while serving with the Metropolitan Special Constabulary in London (September - October 1917) helping the public to shelter during air raids. In addition to her letters, the collection contains approximately 20 letters written by other individuals, including Miss Rachel Crowdy, Principal Commandant VADs France, together with related personal and official papers, as well as a full ts transcript (263pp) of the letters and some of the other documents.
