Ms journal (140pp), with variant second copy, compiled in September 1945 and covering her life from December 1941 until then (and a March 1946 postscript), together with a photocopy of a well written ts account (162pp, written ca 1980s and including a revised version of the journal) of her training as a nurse and midwife, mainly in London (1919 - 1937), of her work in North Borneo (1937 - 1955), largely as a roaming health visitor based at Jesselton (1937 - 1942 and 1946 - 1947) and in the interior at Keningau (1947 - 1955), giving fascinating tales of hospital life, native and unglamorous colonial life, events and customs, but also including descriptions of air raids on London and Dorset while on leave in 1940 and an excellent account of her internment in the camps at Jesselton (May 1942) and subsequently Kuching, Sarawak, giving details of harsh conditions (especially in the adjacent male camp), Japanese brutality and atrocities, their order to execute all internees in 1945, morale, psyche, children and religious observances in camp, and events, conditions and scenes after the capitulation and liberation in 1945; also an ms letter (1p) written after her liberation, camp postcards and a note of Japanese instructions on their composition.
