Ms letter (1p), 29 July 1916, written by the poet and author John Drinkwater to the father of Robert Graves congratulating him after hearing the news that his son had not, as initially reported, died of wounds following the attack of the 2nd Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers (19th Brigade, 33rd Division) against High Wood on 20 July but only been wounded and was now recovering in hospital. The events surrounding this incident are described by Robert Graves in Chapters 20 - 21 of his autobiography GOODBYE TO ALL THAT.
