Ten flimsies covering his service as a Midshipman and Sub Lieutenant RNR in various HM ships and establishments (October 1937 - August 1942), together with official testimonials from his commanding officers concerning his qualities as an Officer of the Watch and as a Navigating Officer (August 1940 - July 1941), correspondence concerning his application for transfer from the Royal Naval Reserve to a permanent executive commission in the Royal Navy (January - May 1944) and a ts list (1p) of all his naval appointments from 1939 to 1957, a mounted photograph of the destroyer HMS GRAFTON with, affixed to it, a cap tally from the ship and some presscuttings relating to Beddoe's service in her at the time of her loss during the Dunkirk evacuation, and a handsome illuminated scroll presented to his father, Lieutenant C W Beddoe RNR, commanding the gunboat HMS KILGOBNET in recognition of his gallantry in rescuing the crew of the SS NIRPURA when she was sunk by torpedo in April 1918
