Circa 220 informative ms and ts letters, some with enclosures, covering: her evacuation to Canada on the DUCHESS OF ATHOLL in June 1940 and subsequent experiences as one of a group of pupils from Sherborne School for Girls studying at Branksome Hall School, Toronto, including references to the warm welcome she received as a war guest, civilian conditions in Britain and Canada, attitudes to the United Kingdom and the United States of America (June 1940 - June 1942); her return to Britain on the SS CORRALES in July 1942 including references to convoy procedure and enemy submarine activity, and her service in the WRNS as a Leading Wren Coder with descriptions of her training in HMS CABBALA (October - November 1942) and postings to Fort Southwick (December 1942 - September 1945) and HM Dockyard, Portsmouth (September - December 1945) (both Portsmouth Command), and HMS QUEBEC, Inverary, Argyllshire (December 1945 - January 1946) including details of her duties, working conditions, civilian conditions, entertainment, problems faced by married Wrens, D Day, her attitude to bombing (9 July 1944), air raids and her pursuit of further education; also ms letters from her mother and father explaining why they had agreed to her evacuation to Canada (June 1940), a useful photocopied ts memoir (10pp) expanding on and complementing her WRNS letters, photocopied diary extracts for 1944 (3pp), her official certificate of service and 27 photographs principally of Fort Southwick and St Dunstan's summer camps near Fareham.
