25 sub-files relating to the acquisition of medals and decorations for the Museum. Consists of:
1) His Majesty King George VI: Correspondence with Windsor Castle regarding the donation of two medals- Naval General Service and Army and RAF General Service, and our gift to them of 3 Roumanian Crosses and a German Badge. Also a list of the King's Orders and Decorations, and a request for information on the ribbons worn.
2) Mr MR Quinn: Correspondence with Mr Quinn regarding items offered for purchase including helmets, medals and badges. Also regarding purchase of Atlantic Wall Medal, Hitler Youth Badge, Death in Action pin and Crete Sleeve Band.
3) Messrs AH Baldwin: Correspondence with Messrs AH Baldwin regarding the donation of medal bars and ribbons. Also confirmation that the Museum holds a complete collection of Sudan clasps.
4) Medals and Decorations of the Netherlands: Correspondence regarding the donation of medals to the Museum from the Royal Netherlands Government. Medals donated Bronze Resistance Star East Asia, Bronzen Leeuw, Bronzen Kruis, Vliegerkruis, Kruis van Verdienste, Oorlogs-Herinnerings Kruis (War Remembrance Cross), Gespen voor Krijsverrichtingen (Bars of War Actions), Ereteken voor Orde en Vrede (Medal for Order and Peace), Mobilisatie Oorlogskruis (Mobilisation War Cross).
5) French: Correspondence with the Secretariat d'Etat a la Guerre regarding donation of 18 medals.
6) Irish Medal: Correspondence with the Irish Embassy regarding the donation of 18 Irish Medals to the Museum. Also regarding donation of two medals from the Department of Industry and Commerce Dublin
7) Order of Hospital of St John of Jerusalem: Correspondence regarding the identification of badges from both World Wars, also donation of ribbons, Service Medal, two Life-Saving medals and the Insignia of an Officer of the Order.
8) Norwegian Decorations: Correspondence regarding donation of a Franco-Polish Narvik badge to the Museum. Also regarding the donation of 14 medals from the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
9) Denmark: Correspondence with the Danish Embassy regarding the donation of King Christian X's Liberty Medal and King King Christian X's Medal in Memory of Participation in the War 1940-1945 to the Museum.
10) Major LT Tomes: Correspondence with Major Tomes regarding an enquiry about German Minature Medals.
11) Spanish Embassy: Correspondence with the Spanish Embasy regarding the donation of two Division Espanola de Voluntarios (Division Azul) Medals. Also regarding an enquiry on the same.
12) JB Thornton: Correspondence with Mr Thornton regarding his enquiries regarding medals.
13) Belgian Medals and Decoration: Correspondence withe the Belgian Embassy regarding the donation of 31 medals to the Museum.
14) Thailand: Correspondence with the Royal Thai Embassy regarding enquiries on the history of medals, donation of a book on Thai Medals, also attempts to obtain medals.
15) Greek Decorations: Correspondence with the Royal Greek embassy regarding a visit of Prince George of Greece to the Museum, also regarding donation to the Museum of 34 medals
16) Kings Commendation Medals: Correspondence with the Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood regarding the donation of King's Commendation Badge for Brave Conduct and the King's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air to the Museum.
17) Southern Railway Meritorious Service Medal: Correspondence with the Labour and Establishment Department of British Railways regarding the donation to the Museum of two Southern Railway Meritorius Medals and ribbon.
18) London Passenger Transport Board: Correspondence with the London Transport Executive regarding the donation of a London Passenger Transport Board Medal for Gallantry.
19) Lloyds Medal for Bravery at Sea: Correspondence with Lloyds Banks regarding the donation of two Lloyd's Medals for Bravery at Sea.
