Second World War Art

Collaborative Doctoral Awards

We are interested to hear from higher education institutions about ideas for joint research projects that may qualify for funding under the AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award Scheme.

CDAs offer the possibility for students to combine academic work leading to a doctorate with the acquisition of practical skills and working experience outside the university context. We can benefit from work on parts of the Collections that have not previously been the subject of close study, resulting in improved access to those collections for the full range of museum users.

PhD opportunities are not limited to those funded by CDA awards or restricted to those listed below. Research at IWM has underpinned many successful doctorates, and students who wish to make use of our Collections for their research into any subject will always be welcome in our Research Room. However, the topics listed below have been selected by IWM curators as offering notable potential for collaborative doctoral study. If you are interested in finding out about them in greater detail, please contact us at research@iwm.org.uk.
